20 firearms surrendered in Turkana as Operation end Banditry in the North continues.
The national police service has announced that they are atleast making progress in their operation of ending banditry in the North.
This comes after the area leaders held a baraza with the residents and sensitized on the need to give them arms back to their rightful place.
The detectives have always advocated for the return of the firearms, not only to ensure safety but to make sure no civilian is compromised to involve themselves in crime.
NPS stated,” 20 FIREARMS SURRENDERED IN TURKANA. During a Public Baraza held at Kakong Trading Centre today, the 9th of May 2023 by H.E the Governor of Turkana County Hon. Jeremiah Lomorukai accompanied by the County Commissioner Turkana Mr. Jacob Ouma,a total of 20 firearms were surrendered to National Government Administration and National Police Service officers.”
“The meeting was also attended by County and Sub-County Intelligence Committee members, Turkana Women Rep. Ms Cecilia Asinyen Ngetit, local MCAs and County employees,”
Separately, In Baringo North, a firearm was recovered and suspects who are believed to be in connection with the robbery with violence that happened in Kiserian, apprehended.
NPS stated,”Elsewhere in Baringo County Tiaty East, one serviceable illegal AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine was recovered and two suspects in connection to the recovery arrested,”
“The two suspects are amongst those sought after a robbery with violence incident that happened on 12th April 2023 within Kiserian area in Marigat Sub-County,” NPS added.
