On the 16th of July 2022, the Media Council of Kenya issued a statement advertising for paid internships in the year fiscal year 2022- 2023.
According to the statement, the interns will receive a monthly salary of ksh. 15,000 for a duration of 3 months.
The internship program is offer journalism students an outside world experience. Other than class work, what awaits the students in this world of media. This will help the students earn experience to mould them as they pursue their career.
The program also enhances exposure, teaches students how to handle themselves in the world of media and technology. Being that most internship programs are unpaid in Kenya, the small token of 15, 000 will come in handy for the interns.
If by any chance one gets the internships, they will get to work with the popular media houses country wide, this includes in the radio, television, editorial department and even in digital marketing.
Journalism students whether in degree or diplomas are encouraged to apply .The program is especially designed for students in their final years.
The requirements for application include: An application letter from the higher or tertiary institution one is currently in.
A letter of recommendation providing your performance, ethics and skills, that is properly signed from the same institution. In addition to that, academic transcripts will also be required.
A Media Council of Kenya student ID for identification will be required and lastly a valid admission number that identifies you are in that particular institution.
Students will also be required to submit some of their published and broadcast content as requested in the application process.
How to apply
interested Students are required to submit the above requirements to the media council of Kenya online portal. The submission is necessary to facilitate verification of the documents.
The deadline for submission is August 12th, 2022.
