The Directorate of Criminal Investigation is conducting an investigation over the death of Kirinyaga east County commissioner. The assistant commissioner by the name Jaqueline Waliaula was found dead in her house at Kirinyaga.
An assistant county commissioners was popularly known as a district officer before the devolved government came in place. He or she is appointed by the president of Kenya and they are part of the national government. They are appointeed under a 3 year contract that is however renewable if one gives an exceptional perfomanace during their tenure.
They serve under the ministry of interior and coordination of National Government. Their role is to allocate administrative duties including general office administration to staff.
They also manage assets and inventories as required. The assistant county commissioner also plans and maintains security in the area they are placed in. Another role is to coordinate and organize government functions if need be.
According to a trusted source, the body was found in her bedroom by a house manager who went ahead to inform the neighbour and then the local police.
The deceased, Jaqueline Waliaula is said to have been expectant at the time of death. A report stated that Jaqueline had vomited on the previous day, however, promised to visit the hospital for checkup on the next day.
The house manager who had woken up to her duties as usual, noticed that the assistant county commissioner had not left her bedroom. It was strange for her so she decided to go to the bedroom and check why she had not woken up. This particular time was when she noticed the deceased lying on the bed in a supine position.
Terrified, she called the immediate neighbour who is a police officer, he confirmed that the assistance county commissioner was indeed dead.
The cause of her death still remains a mystery as investigations are underway.
