Speaking on Citizen television on 29th of july, 2022, Bishop Alfred Rotich spoke on matters pertaining the upcoming elections.
10 days to the elections and many leaders are holding some of their last campaigns as the Independent electoral commission of Kenya is preparing Kenyans to vote come 9th August 2022.
The bishop, Alfred Rotich said that he is convinced that IEBC is ready for the elections, however they should make Kenyans more aware of what they are doing as an electoral body
He said,”Yes i am convinced that they have done some percentage of preparations which we are happy but we continue to ask them to increase their optics to the media to explain what is it they are talking about.”
He continued to state that he is urging the Independent electoral commission to do that because many people do not understand when they talk about matters such as the process of voting.
“The mystery around it is that many people don’t understand when they talk about, for example, even how to vote, yet they know how to. They want to vote but when they are taken through the process then they can understand.’
Bishop Rotich further stated that this is a moment for the Independent electoral commission of Kenya and that they should hold more voter centered talks.
This talks are a positive way of sticking to facts instead of spreading rumours.
Talking to citizen television news anchor, Trevor Ombija, the Bishop called the independent electoral commission as the referree and the commission needs to be given time to monitor and also to increase volume in optics so that Kenyans may have a safe path and access on which to elect their leaders.
“Personally and i think from the plenary we see that more than before, they have done really good work.” He stated
Bishop also stated that towards elections most people are anxious and he thinks IEBC is trying to manage their anxiety.
