Over the weekend, in a church meeting at St, Francis catholic church in Kasarani, Nairobi gubernatorial candate, Johnson Sakaja claimed that are ongoing efforts to rig the 9th August in favour of Polycarp Igathe.
Johnson Sakaja, the nairobi senator, claimed that a meeting was held at a restaurant in Nairobi to plan on how the rigging process was to take place. The meeting involved; County commanders and chiefs.
IN his statement, he said that the officials were given instructions to collect the national Identity cards of citizens by giving them some cash. This move was to reduce the number of voters supporting the United democratic party in Nairobi which the senator is vying under.
He, Johnson Sakaja went ahead to claim that the ministery of Interior was involved in the rigging plans.
He said, “Chiefs should keep off election process. your work is to provide security an ensure Kenyans are receiving services from the national government, stop being used to interfere with elections.
Nairobi gubernatorial candidate further alleged that, some national officed are being used as a channel to undermine the independent electoral and Boundaries Commission’s roles as expected by the citizens of Kenya.
Mr Sakaja said,” Why is the IEBC being bullied? This is an abuse of his office and we shall not tolerate any interference to the election process by anyone.”
The Nairobi senator however went ahead to sell his manifesto and plans for Nairobi. He promised to help the matatu sector by reducing the traffic jam that is commonly experienced in Nairobi County
He, Sakaja, promised to implement the working together of the management of stages.
He stated, “Impounding of vehicles does not make sense. We need to reorient how we do our work so that the county government makes money an you too make a profit in an orderly environment.”
