Cabinet secretary, interior, Fred Matiang’i has issued a statement saying DP was once on their neck in regards to firing the former rift valley regional commander.
Fred Matiang’i stated that the deputy President, William Ruto, pressured them over the sacking of the regional commander by the name Natembeya. Speaking in a press, Matiang’i said,”For the time i have been at the ministry of interior, I can say this publicly, he likes to quote God and God is seeing all of us talking here. The pressure under which we have come before to even sack Natembeya for example.”
He further stated that the deputy president had instructed his ministry, the ministry of Interior, to fire all the regional commanders without giving valid reasons.
In his statement, “I have not seen a regional commissioner that the deputy president did not want sacked. We came under intense pressure to fire Natembeya even as a county commissioner in Narok, then as regional commissioner in Rift Valley from him, insisting he must be fired even without providing reasons why we should fire him.”
According to the deputy President on thursday, he accused the Rift valley Regional commissioner Maalim Mohammed of collaborating with the Transzoia and Nakuru counties RC to plan disruptions on the election day.
In DP Ruto’s statement,” The Regional Commissioner of Rift Valley, Maalim Mohammed, the county commissioners Samson Ojwang of Trans Nzoia, Stephen Kihara of Uasin Gishu and Erastus Mbui of Nakuru are part of this scheme. They are the people holding night meetings to plan conflict amongst Kenyans.”
After the claims, the director of communications has reprimanded the interior CS, Matiang’i to stop using his office as means for rallying politics.
He said, ” Matiangi should stop using his office as means for rallying politics.
He said,” Matiang’i should stop using his office to do politics. His job is clear. Fighting William Ruto is not one of his responsibilities.
