Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has retained his seat.
On 9th August 2022, Didmus Barasa shot his opponent’s aide before he went into hiding.
An incident that is still being investigated by the authorities, has left many wondering why the MP would do such an unlawful act.
It is reported that, heavy security was deployed at his backyard, Kimilili boy highschool so that it will ensure his arrest incase he tries to make appearance at the same tallying centre.
According to authorities, his opponent showed up at the polling station to await the tallying exercise, when he saw Didmus , the opponent decided to leave the polling station.
Later on, Didmus Barasa followed him to his car. After what was called an exchange of words, Didmus pulled out his gun at fired at his opponent’s aide
The Authorities reported,” about three minutes, Mr. Brian Khaemba decided to leave the station and headed to his car Reg. No. KCR 050J where Hon. Didmus Barasa followed him in company of four men and ordered them not to allow him(Mr. Brian Khaemba) to leave the place but Mr Khaemba’s driver one Joshua Nasokho defied the order and ignited the vehicle.
Hon. Didmus Barasa withdrew a pistol and aimed at Mr Khaemba’s aide namely Brian Olunga and shot him on the forehead where he profusely bled.He was rushed to Kimilili Sub-County Hospital where he succumbed while undergoing treatment.”
The police also stated that, “Scene visited by the police accompanied by Scenes of Crime Personnel from Bungoma County,where the scene was processed and documented.Body lying at the said Hospital pending removal to Delight Funeral Home.”
Though the Member of parliament has garnered himself votes, the authorities have swore to bring him to justice as the law requires of them.
