The Nairobi county gubernatorial seat had so many hick ups starting with the fake documents that Johnson Sakaja of United Democratic Alliance presented.
A case that required him to confirm that the academic documents were real , became the talk of the country. However, netizens speculated that the saga was directly working against the Deputy president William Samoei Ruto who is the leader of UDA.
Nairobi County harbours so many tribes country wide. Being that in Kenya a tribal Factor is key in elections, the candidates are hoping to garner themselves a seat regardless.
Starting from Kikuyus, Kisiis, Kambas and Luhyas, who reside at the city, each gubernatorial candidate is hoping to garner votes from their affiliate tribe as they get backed up by other tribes.
Johnson Sakaja is banking on Luhyas and some Kikuyus since his running mate,Njoroge Muchiri is originally Kikuyu.
On the other Hand, Polycarp Igathe is mostly backed by the Kikuyus. His running mate,Philip Kaloki is expected to secure Kamba votes for his principal.
This contest of Nairobi Gubernatorial seat is now a neck to neck battle between Azimio la Umoja One Kenya of Raila Amollo Odinga and Kenya kwanza headed by William Ruto.
However, according to statistics from the Independent electoral and boundaries commission (IEBC) Nairobi county voted in Raila odinga of Azimio La Umoja as their president (2022-2027).
Earlier, Sakaja through his social media account, raised a rigging claim as the votes are still being counted.
The Nairobi Gubernatorial race still remains a mystery as Kenyans await for IEBC to complete tallying and declare the winner.
