A race that was a tight one , Kelvin Bahati emerged third.
Bahati was vying under Jubilee party which is headed by the outgoing president , Uhuru Kenyatta.
Kevin Kioko popularly known as Bahati, came third this is after Anthony Olouch of Orange Democratic movement emerged the winner as he was followed closed by Bill Ojiwa of United Democratic Alliance.
A total of 28,098 was the number of votes of Brian Oluoch of Orange Democratic movement garnered.
Bilian Ojiwa of United Democratic Alliance emerged second with a total of 16,912 votes.
Kevin Kioko or Bahati got a total 8,166 votes which made him emerge in third position.
However, there has been chaos since Billian Ojiwa of United Democratic Alliance declined to concede defeat.
He claimed that the whole voting process had issues and he was supposed to be the winner.
He went ahead to storm out of the tallying station and promised the Mathare Constituency that he will challenge the defeat in a court of law.
On the other hand, Oluoch of Orange democratic movement will be taking the parliamentary seat for the second time.
Oluoch expresses his joy and gratitude in the kind of trust the people of Mathare Constituency had in him for electing him for the second term.
After being handed the certificate of member of parliament elect, Hon. Oluoch of Orange Democratic Movement declared that he is willing to work with other competitors who were with him in the ballot inorder to take Mathare forward.
Being that Mathare is one of the slums in Nairobi, a lot of problems are experienced by the residents. This includes shortage of water, poor housing conditions, Inadequate food, crime rate is high, poor infrastructure and hygiene based diseases are common.
Oluoch stated that, “ I invite all my able competitors so that we work for our people.”
