The gubernatorial race has had many anticipations with reknown governors losing as others retain their seats.
Some vied under different coalitions as others were independent candidates being that they lost at the nomination of political parties.
In Kisumu County, Jack Ranguma who was the first Kisumu County governor lost to Anyang’ Nyongo
Jack Ranguma under the movement for democracy and growth(MDG) lost to Anyang’ Nyongo of the Orange Democratic movement party.
Anyang Nyongo garnered 319, 957 votes while Ranguma of 100, 600 votes.
In Bungoma County, Wangamati lost the gubernatorial race to Kenneth Lusaka. In the neck to neck race, the incumbent Ken Lusaka Garnered a total of 244, 298 votes.
Kenneth Lusaka was contesting under the FORD Kenya coalition while Wangamati was vying under Democratic Alliance party of Kenya.
Elsewhere in Bomet County, Isaac Ruto lost in the race to the county assembly. Isaac Ruto emerged second as the Governor elect, Hillary Barchok was declared the winner.
Isaace Ruto was vying under the Chama cha Mashinani party , he garnered a total of 137,323 votes while the winner Hillary Barchok who was contesting under the United Democratic Party won with a total of 158, 798 votes.
In Homa bay county, former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero lost to Gladys Wanga. The statistics by the Independent electoral and boundaries Commission showed that Gladys Wanga had a total of 244,059 votes while Evans Kidero garnered a total of 152, 182 votes.
Baringo County’s Benjamin Cheboi, is the governor elect. Cheboi who vying under the United Democratic Alliance coalition, beat the reknown Stanely Kiptis of Kenya African national union(KANU).
In Kilifi County , Aisha Jumwa also lost to Mungar’o who was vying under the Azimio la Umoja Coalition.
Currently in Nairobi County , Johnson Sakaja of United Democratic Alliance has won against Polycarp Igathe of Jubilee in the governor race.
