Since the announcement of 2022, general elections began, a number of Members of parliament have been declared elect.
Across the 290 constituencies different Candidates vied under diiferent political coalition some of them namely Azimio La Umoja and Kenya Kwanza.
The most outstanding candidates were the ones who were independent and still won the election.
According to the law of Kenya that was ammended in the year 2010, an independent candidate is one who is not sponsered by any political party apart from themselves.
Some of the Independent candidates who won the election are;
1.Shakeel Shabar
The above candidate is currently the member pf parliament elect in Kisumu East constituency.
Hon. Shakeer beat his opponent under the Orange democratic movement by the name Nicholas Oricho.
According to the independent electoral and boundaries commission statistics, Shakeer garnered 35,704 votes while Nicholas Oricho of Orange democratic movement got a total of 28,491 votes in the same constituency.
Being that Orange democratic movement is the most dominant party in Kisumu , Shakeer has set a record. He decided to go independent after he lost in the nomination to Nicholas Oricho.
2. Ronald Karauri
The sportpesa chief executive is also among the independent candidates who is a member of parliament elect.
Ronald Karauri is the MP elect in Kasarani Constituency.
During the nominations, Ronald was supposed to vie under the Jubilee party but he lost to Mercy Gakuya. An act that prompted him to run independently.
During the tallying exercise, Hon. Ronald Karauri garnered a total of 32,406 votes while his opponent Mercy Gakuya got a total of 20,000 votes.
3.Kitilai Ntutu
The above individual is the Member of parliament elect in Narok South.
Ntutu who was in a race with opponents from Azimio la Umoja and Kenya Kwanza coalitions was declared a winner by IEBC with a total of 17,238 votes.
4. Rahim Dawood
Hon. Dawood also is the MP elect Imenti north. This is after garnering a total of 26, 218 votes.
