On 13th August at KICC , the Azimio la Umoja Coalition held its inaugural meeting.
A meeting that was attended by Azimio la Umoja principals together with leaders who were elected in the election year 2022.
Though in absentia, the Azimio la Umoja leader , was represented well by his deputy Martha Karua.
Martha Karua expressed her optimism on the presidential election.
She said as far as the tallying process is concerned, the coalition is assured of a win .
She went ahead to affirm the Azimio la Umoja supporters that they have tallied ,courtesy of the Independent electoral and boundaries commission portal.
She said, “If you look at everything, including all the other seats combined, there is no way, no way, the tally can be against us. And by the way, we have tallied, it’s just that we don’t have the power to announce ourselves.”
She further said that the tallying process they had done themselves has Raila Odinga as the winner.
She however, stated that they could have announced the results but they are in no capacity to do that.
The constitution mandates the Independent electoral and boundaries commission to announce results.
She said, “The forms were in the portal and we took copies and tallied and we know where we are and we know if we had the power by now we would have called it for ourselves but we will wait for that announcement.”
She assured the Azimio la Umoja delegates in KICC that indeed Kenyans gave them Azimio la Umoja coalition a chance to lead Kenya . They are just waiting for an official communication.
She said, “Please be upbeat and know that Kenyans did give us the opportunity to steer the nation and we are waiting for the official seal of approval.”
As Kenyans await the 2022 general elections results, Azimio delegates such as Junet Mohammed have expressed that they are sure of a win.
