The united head of state secretary on his tour in Africa, made a call with the Kenya’s head of state, president Uhuru Kenyatta.
Mr. Blinken was on a three nation tour in Africa. The nations he visited include South Africa where he landed on August 7th.
He, then proceeded to the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda in a purpose of dealing with the fast growing Russia Influence across Africa, enhance peace and security.
According to Citizen digital media, Mr. Bliken congratulated President Uhuru for perfectly performing his duty as the president of Kenya and in maintaining peace and security in his region.
The U.S head of state secretary further commented that , even as president Uhuru is retiring and closing his tenure as president, the kind of work he did will be heard and used by generation in advocacy of peace and security.
He stated, “Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke today with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta to discuss the Secretary’s recent visit to South Africa, the DRC, and Rwanda, noting his appreciation for President Kenyatta’s continued efforts to advance regional peace and security.
Mr. Blinken further encouraged Kenyans to remain vigilant and calm even as they await for the Independent electoral and boundaries commission to announce the presidential results.
The state secretary also told Kenyans that their elections is being anticipated by so many. He looks forward to an election that is free and fair without any irregularities. He further said that he looks forward to a very peaceful election as conducted by the Independent electoral and boundaries commission on 9th August 2022.
With a message on his twitter account, Blinken said,”Discussed with President Uhuru Kenyatta the importance of Kenya’s elections as a model for the continent. We encourage peace and patience as the vote tallying continues from the August 9 elections.”
