The United states embassy has denied releasing a congratulatory message on one of the presidential candidates.
The statement claimed that, the united states president Joe Biden had congratulated Hon. Raila Odinga on the presidential election.
The statement had further alledgedly stated that President Joe Biden had applauded Kenyans on the kind of peace they had maintained in the election time.
It was also said that the United States president had commended the Independent electoral and boundaries commission for conducting a free and fair election as required of them.
The United States embassy however, denied the statement and saying it was untrue and should be treated with contempt.
In line with that, The United States head of state secretary was said to be on a call with the president of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta.
Mr. Blinken applauded president Uhuru Kenyatta for his efforts to maintain peace and security in Kenya and its boundaries.
He further urged Kenyans to maintain vigilance and calm during the elections period, even as the Independent electoral and boundaries continues with the verification of results.
The state secretary stated,”Discussed with President Uhuru Kenyatta my recent trip to Africa and the importance of Kenya’s elections as a model for the continent. “
He further said, “We encourage peace and patience as the vote tallying continues from the August 9 elections.”
Kenyans are in the anticipation mood as they await the announcement of the presidential results.
The independent electoral and boundaries commission chair stated that verification of results is underway.
He, Wafula Chebukati pleaded with Kenyans to maintain their calm even as they await the results.
This is after the agents from the coalitions( Azimio la Umoja and Kenya kwanza) keep causing chaos at the Bomas of Kenya.
The results are being verified by the returning officers and Chebukati is expected to announce the results anytime soon.
