The Kikuyu Council of elders issued a press release regarding the decision their people made on the choice of presidency.
As it stands now, the Mt Kenya region voted the Kenya Kwanza leader, William Ruto as their president.
Earlier during the campaigns, the outgoing president Uhuru Kenyatta, urged his people, the Kikuyu region to vote for Azimio la Umoja Leader, Raila Amollo Odinga.
During tallying, Kirinyaga County where the deputy of Azimio la Umoja arises from, voted in the Kenya Kwanza, William Samoei Ruto.
Elsewhere in Gatundu, where president Uhuru come from, also voted in William Samoei Ruto as their president of Choice.
Nyeri County also showed their support to their Son, Rigathi Gachagua , the deputy leader of Kenya kwanza by showering Dp Ruto with votes.
The Central Kenya leaders have however stated that the choice their people made was an emotional one.
They said,”Our community made an emotional decision and it is a matter of time before they sober up and see our point.”
In a statement , they stated how they failed to read the political mood in the region and that the people of Mt. Kenya will soon regret what they did.
However they have conceded defeat.
They said,”We concede defeat but that is not to say we were wrong. Just like the way Jesus Christ who was messiah was crucified by the decision of the majority, it turned out that majority are not always right.”
They further stated that they were supporting President Uhuru because Raila Odinga was the best choice regardless of the decision their people made.
They said,” We said we supported President Uhuru Kenyatta to be out kingpin even after retiring. We settled for supporting Raila Odinga as the most ideal presidential candidate to succeed Kenyatta. That remains the wisest stand for our community regardless of the outcome of the vote.”
