After the Independent electoral and boundaries commission announced His excellence William Ruto as the president elect, East African presidents took to their social media pages to congratulate the president elect.
His excellency, Samia Suluhu of Tanzania commended the people of Kenya for the peaceful elections they held, she is also looking forward to working with the government of Kenya in the future.
She said,” I congratulate the people of Kenya on their peaceful general election and the subsequent announcement of Dr. William Ruto as the president elect. We look forward to continue working together with our brothers and sisters in Kenya to strengthen our historically close ties. Tuko Pamoja.”
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud also passed his congratulatory message. He also stated that he is looking forward to working with the new president.
He said,” I offer my sincere congratulations to president elect H.E William Ruto on becoming Kenya’s 5th president. My best wishes to you begin your tenure at State house Kenya. I look forward to closely working with you to advance our partnership in all areas of mutual benefit.
President Evariste Ndayishimiye also took to his twitter account to congratulate Kenya for holding a free, fair elections.
He further urged the opponent to dispute the votes , if need be, in a legal way to preserve peace and harmony.
He said,” My heartfelt Congratulations to the President elect William Ruto and the people of Kenya for holding free, fair and peaceful elections. We urge all the parties to preserve peace and disputes be resolved by existing competent legal mechanisms. Idumu ya Jumuiya yetu!
His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria also stated that Kenya has been an import Partner in their country.
He further commended the people of Kenya for the peace they have maintained.
He said,” I commend the people of Kenya for the peaceful and transparent outcome of the election.”
He further said,”Nigeria values Kenya as a strategic partner in the fight against terrorism and violence extremism.”
