South African Member of national assembly, Julius Malema has reacted regarding the petition made by Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga on the presidential results.
Malema urged Azimio la Umoja Leader, Raila odinga to concede defeat. Malema insisted on the same saying that , conceding will ensure there is no post election violence.
He said,””The EFF (Economic Freedom Fighters)calls on the rival, the contestants and in particular, Raila Odinga to accept the results of the elections and act with restraint with their supporters.”
He however urged that instead of violence, a court of law can settle the petition. Malema further called on the regional bodies to ensure that the country Kenya does experience what it underwent in 2007 and 2008 post election.
He said,”Never hesitate to refer any post elections delinquent to the African Court of Human and People’s Rights for a swift justice,and Honorable Odinga to be gracious in defeat for the good of peace and order in the nation of Kenya.”
Malema went ahead to pass his congratulatory message to President elect William Ruto.
He said,””The EFF congratulates the President-elect of Kenya, His Excellency William Ruto.”
He further commended the Independent electoral and boundaries commission for the job they did.
Malema also stated that the completion and declaration will be the continuation of the democratic regime in Africa.
Malema is among the African politicians who congratulated His excellency William Ruto on hia election.
However, his opponent, Raila Odinga has made a clear stand that the presidential results were null and void.
Raila Odinga further stated that plans are underway to challenge the declaration in the supreme court.
The law society of Kenya has been seen to make arrangements to hear the petition as the constitution pertains.
A panel of 7 judges led by Chief Jutice Martha Koome has assured Kenyans that they are ready to hear out the petition and act accordingly.
