President Uhuru Kenyatta has today promised a peaceful transition. This is after meeting the United states senator, Chris.
A delegation that was announced by the United states ambassador to Kenya, Meg Whitman has advocates for peace during the election period.
The meeting was also attended by Cabinet secretary incharge of foreign Affairs, Rachel Omamo, Cabinet secretary incharge of trade,Betty Maina and the United states ambassador to Kenya, Meg Whitman.
The senator who was to tour other African countries, was today, 18th August expected to meet president Uhuru Kenyatta together with Kenya kwanza leader William Ruto and Azimio la Umoja leader, Raila Odinga.
President Uhuru has stated that peace has always been what he is advocating for, he stated that Kenya will set a good example as a peaceful country in Africa and the world at large.
He stated,”My greatest desire is that peace will prevail and we may set an example in the continent and the world.
Senator Chris also commended the country Kenya for making sure peace prevails during the elections and even after the declaration of a president elect.
He said,”We are encouraged by the peace Kenya has continued to experience during this period.”
It is stated that, the senator also met up with the president elect to discuss about the relationship between the United states and the country Kenya.
They stated that, Kenya will continue to uphold peaceful and fruitful relations with the United States.
The Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga and Martha Karua also met up with senator coons.
This is after the Azimio la Umoja leader rejected the presidential results and promised to take his petition to the supreme court of Kenya.
They also disscussed matters regarding the democracy, the post election petition and how to maintain peace.
