Moses Wetangula who is in the Kenya kwanza canp, headed by President elect William Ruto, has urged the Azimio la Umoja leader to concede.
He stated that, this is not the first time that the Azimio la Umoja leader, Raila Odinga is loosing election.
According to the political history of Kenya , this is the 3rd time Azimio la Umoja leader, Raila Odinga is loosing the presidential bid.
In the year 2007, Raila Odinga who was vying under the Orange Democratic party ( ODM) lost the election to Mwai Kibaki of Party of national Unity(PNU).
It is recorded that the year 2007-2008 post election is the worst kind of violence that was witnessed in the history of politics.
However, The late Koffi Annan, mediated the matter , Raila Odinga Conceded defeat making Mwai Kibaki the president.
In the year 2013, a tight race was witnessed between Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta. Again, Raila odinga petitioned the declaration of Uhuru as the president by stating that there were electoral malpractices.
However, the supreme court of Kenya overruled the case. In 2017, Uhuru Kenyatta of Jubilee coalition and Raila Odinga of CORD were again in the race.
The Independent electoral and boundaries commission, declared Uhuru Kenyatta as the president elect, a decision that Raila Odinga again declined.
By declining and filling a petition, the Chief Justice, David Maraga ordered for a re-run of the presidential elections.
Uhuru Kenyatta together with his deputy, William Ruto again won the election.
Same case scenario has again happened in 2022 general elections.
The IEBC chair, Wafula Chebukati declared William Ruto of Kenya as the president elect, a decision that Raila Odinga declared null and void.
Moses wetangula has however told Raila Odinga to accept defeat and move forward by shaking hands with Ruto.
He said,” Things happened the way they did , shake hands with us. Not to share government but to bring peace in the country.”
