Juliane Cherera and other three commissioners( Justus Nyang’aya, Francis Wanderi and Irene Masit)split and resented the declaration of the president elect by the independent electoral and boundaries commission; to file responses regarding the presidential petition.
The four independent electoral and boundaries commission officials, are expected to file an affidavit that will explain the 0.01 per cent error they noticed on the presidential results.
According to a source from the nation media, the four are respondents in the Presidential petition 2022, filed by the Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga.
The commissioners further revealed that they are doing their duty as Kenyan citizens who were serving as commissioners in the independent electoral and boundaries commission.
The commissioners stated that they are ready to answer to the petition, their lawyers are in place.
They said,”We have already identified our lawyers and given them directives. We need our own lawyers , because the prayers Raila made, Chebukati should disqualify himself- Raila in relation to the case are different from what we have been listed to answer.”
The commissioners also put it that, they were non- partisan and never in their line of duty did they side with the Azimio la Umoja Coalition.
Cherera together with the commissioners have promised that they are ready to testify at the supreme court of law and to say nothing but the truth.
They said,”We will always stand with the truth and that’s why we need to have our own lawyers.”
According to the four commissioners, who are now respondents in the presidential petition, the presidential results had errors; We cannot take ownership for the results that will be announced- IEBC deputy Chair
The supreme court is expected to start the hearing on monday.
