The 3 venezuelans had access to the IEBC systems 5 months before polls.
The forensics have analysed that the suspects of hacking the Portals, the 3 venezuelans had access to the IEBC system 5 months before polls.
The 3 venezuelans namely:Salvador Javier, Jose Gregorio and Joel Gustavo had computers that were confiscated by the DCI, used to make the analysis.
The forensics department identified the three as members of IEBC who were not part of the official staff but had access to the independent electoral and boundaries commission system.
The Directorate of criminal investigation is currently investigating a company linked to a north eastern politician, that was used to grant access to the systems.
However, the independent electoral and boundaries commission chairman, wafula Chebukati refuted the claims, he stated that the IEBC system was secure.
He said,”The entire network spectrum was secured with a twin – external and internal – high-level perimeter firewalls which filtered all the information and only define and authorized transmission was permitted through these filters.”
Wafula added,”The permitted users had distinct but interdependent roles at all levels. No single person could perform an end to end operation in the system.”
The independent electoral and boundaries commission also stated that there was no data interruption during polls.
They stated,”As demonstrated in the affidavit by Michael Ouma, the CDRs show no stoppage in transmission of data or intrusion by any strange unidentified number.”
Further in their defence, IEBC stated that the system had back to back firewalls that could alert them of any unusual activity.
IEBC stated,”The firewalls had an inbuilt report back and alert mechanism in case of any attempted access or unusual activity in the system and were continuously being monitored for such.”
The Azimio la Umoja coalition wanted the three venezuelans to face the law, but it was not possible because of the assurance statement IEBC released.
