Student commits suicide in school
A student commits suicide in Tala girls high school, Machakos County.
The reports from the school indicate that the girl was accused of stealing ksh.2500 and a packet of pencils.
She however, left a suicide note refuting the accusations. She also stated that she took the step of killing herself in-order to save the mother from undergoing shame and pain.
Accusing Tala girls of negligence, the grieving mother blamed the school of mishandling her daughter when alive and after she killed herself.
The mother stated that the school did not communicate of the daughter’s death before she was taken to the mortuary.
She said,”I was not in the right state of mind to listen to what they were telling them. I was overcome with emotions. I asked them where my daughter was only to be informed that her body was moved to the mortuary.”
The mother further stated that the school is not giving her a clear series of events that triggered the daughter to commit such an act.

She went ahead to plead with the education cabinet secretary, Magoha to intervene so that she could served the justice she wants.
She said,”I request CS Magoha to help me get justice. Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, also kindly intervene. The school’s principal was reluctant to explain what really transpired.”
The mother is also reprimanding Tala girls high school of releasing the news of her daughter’s death to the outside public before consulting with her, the mother.
In schools, Students are encouraged to seek mental help whenever they are faced with situations that interfere with their mental health.
