Tuesday declared a public Holiday in honor of the swearing in ceremony.
The head of the assumption of office committee, Joseph Kinyua, declared tuesday, 13, as a public holiday. The day will mark the swearing in of the president elect and handing over of the sitting president.
Kinyua said,”The day of the wearing-in shall be a public holiday of general observance throughout the territory of the Republic of Kenya. The formal Gazette notice will be issued later in the week.”

Kinyua further stated that the ceremony is scheduled to take place at Kasarani Stadium.
He said,”The ceremony shall be held at Moi International Stadium, Kasarani,” he stated, adding: “As per the law, this must take place anytime between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm and thereafter the deputy president-elect will also be sworn in.”
The ceremony will be presided over by the chief justice, Martha Koome.
Kinyua said,”The president-elect shall take the oath of office as administered by the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary before her ladyship the Chief Justice.”
Kinyua revealed that the committee of the assumption of office met today to discuss the handing over and smooth transition of office.
He said,”I have this morning shared a meeting with the Assumption of office of the President committee, the meeting was preceded by the decision of our nation’s apex court that upheld the declaration of William Ruto as president-elect.”
president Uhuru Kenyatta also stated that he will ensure a smooth transition.
Uhuru said,”Indeed, it is my intention to oversee a smooth transition to the next administration and all the necessary orders to facilitate this process have already been issued.”
This comes after the supreme court of Kenya upheld the 2022 presidential results thereby declaring William Ruto as the president elect.
