Kenya pipeline warns motorists for the anticipated fuel shortage crisis
Kenya pipeline corporation stated this in regards to the government’s pending bills for fuel subsidies.
The corporation through the director general, Macharia Irungu further stated that marketers have declined to pick deliveries from Kipevu oil storage facility hence causing delays.
A letter from the corporation also stated that depots in Nairobi and some parts in western Kenya have run out of stock and could get worse in the coming days.
Irungu said,” As you are aware, diesel being the carrier product of all other grades in the pipelines is the most affected with the daily average uplift volume dropping from 11,500 cubic metres to 9,000 cubic metres, marking a 30 per cent drop.”
He added,” Going by the diesel uplifts witnessed in Western Kenya, we are likely to stock out on petrol in Western Kenya from September 8 as its receipt is being hindered by the leading AGO batches.”
EPRA is expected to issue new petrol prices next week.
