KJMA welcomes Ruto’s directive to appoint judges rejected by Uhuru.
Yesterday, 13th September 2022, president William Ruto appointed six judges who had earlier been rejected by the former president , Uhuru Kenyatta.
He said,”further demonstrate my commitment to the independence of the judiciary, this afternoon, I will appoint the six judges already nominated for appointment to the court of appeal which was done three years ago.”
He added,”To consolidate the place of the Judiciary in our constitutional and democratic dispensation, my administration will respect judicial decisions while we cement the place of Kenya as a country anchored on democracy the rule of law.”

President Ruto further stated that he will scale up the finances in the judiciary.
The Kenya judges and magistrates Association, KJMA welcomes Ruto’s directive.
KJMA president, Derrick, stated that the initiative will promote the independence of the judiciary.
Derrick said,” The appointment of the six Judges is a massive step in promoting the institutional independence of the Judiciary and JSC.”
“Pledging to increase the Judiciary budget is great. The Judiciary has in the past suffered unwarranted budget cuts whose net effect has been to impede service delivery to innocent Kenyans.” Derrick added.
The former president, Uhuru Kenyatta had rejected the six judges.
The Kenya magistrate and judges association led by the former chief justice, David Maraga issued a statement condemning the former president, Uhuru Kenyatta for his failure to appoint all the judges nominates by the judicial service commission( JSC)
