800 youth hired during Uhuru regime cry for lack of pay.
In Naivasha, Nakuru county, 800 youth hired during Uhuru regime have never been paid up to date.
The youths were working under the kazi mtaani program which was formulated for the youth when the former president, Uhuru Kenyatta was still in office.
The youths stated that they have lost hope of ever receiving their pay because its been long overdue.
They stated,”We need our money and we are humbly asking, ‘Please help us, we worked hard for the money.’ The money has not been paid for two months. Just pay us whenever we do the Kazi Mtaani work.”
The youths further pleaded for their county governor, Susan Kihika to step in and meet their needs.

Kazi mtaani program, was to empower youths and help them fend for themselves to curb the rising crimes.
Earlier, the former president, Uhuru Kenyatta’s government allocated Ksh900 million for the creation of job opportunities in addition to vocational training.
In addition to that, the government of Kenya allocated an additional Ksh2.2 billion for the Kenya Youth Empowerment and Opportunities Project (KYEOP) that is being undertaken by the State Department for Youth.
However,cases of workers not receiving their payments has become rampant.
