NHIF clarifies reports on its database deletion.
National hospital insurance fund, NHIF clarifies reports on its database being breached. The fund stated that their database has not been entered without authorization.
NHIF refuted claims that its system data since 2019 was hacked into and deleted by unknown people.
NHIF stated,”NHIF would like to appeal to the public to disregard the misleading post. We would like to categorically ensure Kenyans that the database is intact and has not been tampered with in any way.”
NHIF further assured its customers that their services are still available. They do not need to worry of system data breaching.
NHIF said,”NHIF continues to deliver quality health insurances services including regular member access in contracted hospitals across the country, based on information captured in the database.”
However, if anyone has doubts regarding the safety of their data, they can visit NHIF offices or check through the web portal.
NHIF added,”Members can interrogate the database and check the history of their contributions through the available self-care platforms: *155#, ‘My NHIF App’, SMS and www.NHIF.ke.
This happened barely a week after NHIF biometric system failed to work. Patients accessing treatment services faced an outage rendering a delay of services.
NHIF stated,”NHIF wishes to assure members that the technical team is working tirelessly to restore services to normalcy. In the meantime, the public is notified that alternative manual processes have been implemented to ensure uninterrupted services while seeking treatment in hospitals.”
