President of Kenya, William Ruto meets outgoing cabinet secretaries together with his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua
State house announced,”President William Ruto is currently chairing his first Cabinet meeting at State House, Nairobi.”
The present cabinet was handpicked by the former president Uhuru Kenyatta.
This meeting comes at a time when Kenyans are anticipating for the president, William Ruto to choose his cabinet.
Among the leaders in attendance was the Interior cabinet secretary, Fred Matiang’i. It caught the eyes of Kenyans since, Matiang’i was campaigning for Azimio la Umoja leader, Raila Odinga.
Other cabinet secretaries present were CS Najib Balala (Tourism) CS Raychelle Omamo (Foreign Affairs), CS Eugene Wamalwa (Defence), CS Joe Mucheru (ICT) Ambassador Amina Mohamed (Sports), Attorney General Kihara Kariuki, Head of Public Service, Joseph Kinyua and Peter Munya( Agriculture cabinet secretary).
Some leaders have come out to commend president Ruto for the step he took to meet the outgoing cabinet.
Kirinyaga governor, Ann Waiguru stated that the president has shown a great act of democracy. She added that the president has demonstrated patriotism and his duty to fuel the country forward.
Ann said,”His Excellency the President William Rutomeeting Cabinet this morning before naming his new team is yet another demonstration of his belief in democracy and the perpetuity of Public Service.”
“It is a testament to his unrivaled commitment to higher ideals of patriotism and statesmanship.”Waiguru added.
