Education CS succeeding Magoha- Ezekiel Machogu.
Ezekiel Machogu from Kisii county was yesterday appointed as Education CS succeeding Magoha.
Machogu is among the two leaders from Nyanza who was nominated into president William Ruto’s cabinet.
The other one is Eliud Owalo who was appointed as the ICT cabinet secretary.
Owalo said,”I express my gratitude to the president for the confidence that he has shown in me by assigning me to steer and transform this pivotal sector that is critical for the development of our economy.
“This is an opportunity for me to serve my country and to help the president deliver on the promises that we made to Kenyans. There is no greater honour than to serve one’s country. I promise to be responsive to the needs of Kenyans and to serve selflessly with diligence and efficacy.” Owalo added.

Ezekiel Machogu Ombaki worked as District Officer under the late President Daniel Moi’s regime in 1976, and later promoted to a District Commisioner( 1989-2008).
In 2008, he worked in the Public Service Commission (PSC) as a senior deputy secretary for 8 years.
In 2017, he joined politics. Machogu contested Nyaribari Masaba parliamentary seat and won on a National Agenda Party of Kenya (NAPK) party ticket.
In parliament he served in the Regional Integration and the Services and Facilities Committee.
In 2022 general elections, Machogu was eyeing the Kisii county gubernatorial seat. He however lost to Simba Arati of Azimio la Umoja.
Yesterday, when the president was unveiling his cabinet, he landed the Education cabinet secretary position.
Machogu said,”Thank you president William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua for appointing me as the cabinet secretary for education.”
Among the tasks Machogu has, is to review the competence based curriculum ( CBC); a directive that president Ruto stated during his Inaugural speech.
