Former MP William Chepkut is dead.
Former MP William Chepkut has been confirmed dead this morning, October 8 by his family.
Reports indicated that legislator collapsed at his home and was rushed to a hospital in Nairobi for emergency treatment.
The doctors tried to resuscitate him in vain, pronouncing him dead at a health facility in Parklands.
Last year, the legislator was hospitalised after he collapsed in a hotel.
Chepkut said,” I fainted and was rushed to the hospital, where I received treatment and was discharged. I took it lightly and returned home before travelling to Uganda to undertake other duties.
“Around the same time, I suffered two other accidents that totally affected me,” Chepkut added.
Chepkut served as a member of parliament in his constituency( 2017- 2022).
In 2022 general elections, Chepkut lost to UDA’s Samuel Chepkong’a. The incumbent garnered over 26,000 votes compared to Chepkut who got a total of 13,000 votes.
Since his exit from Parliament, Chepkut maintained a low profile but often commenting on national issues on his official Twitter account.
His last tweet yesterday, Friday, October 7, he congratulated Transport CS nominee Kipchumba Murkomen and Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot for their new jobs.
Chepkut stated,”God’s case is final. Congrats waziri and the new leader of the majority.”
