“The DCI had an option of changing the investigation officers which he did at that time and we understood that the evidence was availed. But coming to 2021 we saw there was nothing,” Haji added

He withdrew the 19M graft charge on Aisha Jumwa on 12th October 2022.
Haji explained,”We felt if additional documents were availed then proof would be there for us to move to court and prosecute her but this was never availed and we had to review the case and drop the charges against Jumwa.”
Director of public prosecution also put it on record that it was not only the case of Aisha Jumwa that was dropped, his office also reviewed certain cases and released some prisoners who were wrongly jailed.
He stated,”We have even gone to prisons and correctional facilities and released people after reviewing their cases. It’s not only these two cases that have been dropped.”
