Kenyatta National hospital to bury 233 unclaimed bodies;The Chief Executive Evanson Kamuri stated that they are trying to create space for fresh bodies.
According to the issued notice, the 233 consists of 217 children and 16 adults;
Kamuri stated that the mortuary is fully packed with the bodies piled up from July 4 to August 30, with none to identify or claim them.
Kamuri said,”We want to create space for fresh bodies and cannot do this until the right procedure is followed. It is an ongoing process.”
However, A 21-day notice has been given to relatives and friends to collect the bodies as authorities seek consent for burial in order to declutter the mortuary.
According to the Public Health Act, any unclaimed body should be disposed from a mortuary within two weeks or disposed off in a mass grave after public officers obtain court’s approval.
The list of the unclaimed named can be accessed at the Kenyatta national hospital farewell home or the institution website.
