Meru county governor, Kawira mwangaza cuts the number of county executive committee from 10 members to 6.
This comes after the members of county assembly, rejected the seven she has nominated.
The members of county assembly, MCAs only approved three out of the ten proposed county executive committee members.
They included Gikunda Mungania (health department), Kiambi Atheru (water), Karimi Njeru (trade department), Monica Kathiori (finance department), Casty Micheni (youth arena ), Dickson Munene (legal docket ), Joseph Ithana (education ministry), James Murungi (roads department),Japheth Ndumba (lands) .
The members of county assembly only approved;Joseph Ithana (education), Monica Kathiori (finance) and Dickson Munene (legal).
Additionally Governor Mwangaza appointed her deputy Joseph M’ithinkia as health executive.
She further presented the names of the two nominees rejected by the assembly to the County Public Service Board.
George Gikunda, had been proposed as health executive, will now be Mwangaza’s political advisor and Kiambi Athiru, who was proposed as water executive, will be the governor’s advisor on water and agriculture.
Hon. Kawira spoke saying,”If they were looking to have the lack of quorum let them forget it. I will cut the county executives from ten to six.”
