Hon. Kihika comes to the rescue of a mother whose children ate chameleons as food; This were the words of the county’s deputy director of communications Kigotho Mwangi Kigotho.
Mwangi stated,”The mother to the two kids will be employed in the county at the environmental department. She will get a new house in the same locality and new bedding since her family never had any of this in their previous house.”
“The governor promised to pay three months rent in her new house, take the children back to school and provide food for the first three months,” he added.
The story of Joyce Chemngetich caught the eyes of many on the socials.
Joyce explained that her two children, aged 4 and 2, were rushed to the hospital after she found them unconscious, upon coming home from work.
She became suspicious of the situation when she discovered two heads of chameleons in a sufuria.
Joyce narrated,”When I asked him why he had prepared chameleons for his siblings, he told me it was because of hunger.”
With the economic trends ravaging the country, Kenya is also reportedly being faced with the worst drought in history.
Earlier, the media featured a story in Kiambu where parents are feeding their kids illicit brew, to calm them down when hungry.
The village elder reported,”This is a very disturbing situation, and we need urgent intervention to improve the situation before we lose a generation just because we struggle to put food on the table.”
