Reactions emerge after Video of NYS officer cleaning Ababu Namwamba’s shoes trends.
A huge debate has sparked on the socials after a video of a National youth service officers went down on his knees to clean Ababu’s shoes.
In the video that was recorded on november 7, Ababu is heard requesting NYS director general, Matilda Sakwa to allow him tip the officer.
Ababu said,”And I hope Madam Director General allows a tip.”
However, Sakwa refuted stating that the act of service is part of the training and discipline.
Sakwa said,”No! No! We do not allow a tip. It is part of their discipline.”
However, Ababu Namwamba went ahead to appreciate the officer.
Reactions emerge after Video caught the eyes of netizens, others saying the act was undermining the rights of the officer.
One tweep wrote,”This is more than undermining neocolonialism.”
Another added,”Bottom-up. The less fortunate are now polishing the shoes of the cabinet millionaires in public.”
However, others said there was nothing wrong with the young man showcasing his skills.
“The young man is showing his skills nothing wrong,” a tweep wrote.
The sports and youth affairs cabinet secretary, Ababu Namwamba has promised to increase the number of recruits, to the Youth service yearly.
He said,” I endeavor to support the Service to attain the targeted youth intake of 20,000 annually, to upscale national service functions with particular emphasis on climate-smart agriculture and value addition for increased food production, propagation of tree seedlings and tree planting.”
