This young man touched my heart- Sakaja takes street kid off the streets ,vows to school him.
In a heartfelt message, Nairobi county governor, Johnson Sakaja has vowed to school the homeless kid.
Speaking while inspecting the streets of Nairobi, sakaja said that he sees a future in the young boy.
He said,”Ibrahim Ali. This young man touched my heart. While inspecting works in the CBD, he walked up to me and said he wants to go to school. He has now found a family and will go to school. I see a bright future.”
Ibrahim, is one of the kids who were abandoned in the streets of Nairobi.
Statistics from Africa Volunteer indicates that Kenya has an estimated 250,000-300,000 street children, with half of them aged between eleven to fifteen years old.
As of now, Nairobi is at between 60-70,000 street families.
Sakaja further stated that a long term solution will be sought, to address this issue of the street families.
