Winnie Odinga wins in the first round in EALA polls.
EALA race contestant, Winnie Odinga wins in the first round of the polls; The Senate has finished casting their vote to elect Kenya’s representatives to the East Africa Legislative Assembly.
The election was slated for today as per the constitution.
The notice read,”Pursuant to Rule 15 (1) of the East African Legislative Assembly Elections (Election of Members of the Assembly) Rules, 2017, we, the Presiding Officers, appoint Thursday, 17th November 2022, as the election day.”
In the Azimio la Umoja camp, Kennedy Musyoka led with 45 votes , followed by Suleiman Shahbal who got 38 votes while Winnie Odinga garnered 35 votes.
Additionally, other contestants including Fatuma Gedi garnered 31 votes, Kanini Kega (29), Diriye Mohamed (4), Timothy Bosire (17), Justus Kizito (9), Jeremiah Kioni (1), Wilfred Mutua (0), Beatrice Askul (1) and Hellen Mueni (1).
Amason Kingi stated,”We shall as a House relay the results to the National Assembly in form of a message as we wait for results from the National Assembly.”
