Kula tu GMO ukufe- Huge debate sparks regarding Moses Kuria’s sentiments on GMOs.
Trade cabinet secretary’s sentiment on GMO products, has raised a lot of reactions.
Earlier, the government, had stated that it will reinstate the genetically modified products after they were banned for their adverse effects on humans.
Kuria stated,”By just being in this country, you are a candidate for death. And because there are so many things competing to kill you, there is nothing wrong with adding GMOs to that list.”
Nairobi senator, Edwin Sifuna reacted to this statement, saying he is not surprised when Moses Kuria suports GMOs in the country.
Sifuna said,”If you are shocked by anything Moses Kuria says or does, you are the problem. Kula tu GMO ukufe.”
Sifuna during a past interview stated,”You are not going to stem the tide of embarrassment that’s going to be caused by these people that you appointed.”
“The capacity of someone to embarrass you is something you can establish during that vetting process,” he added.
Senator cherargei stated,”CS Moses kuria at his usual element but our Rift Valley farmers are currently harvesting maize , the importation of maize should stop until govt has mopped up all this year’s crop & avoid lowering prices that doesn’t match the inputs incurred by maize farmers!.”
Alinur Mohammed said,”There is no way Trade CS Moses Kuria is going to use disrespectful language to force GMO maize on us and expect us to clap for him. It’s unfortunate that he has allowed power to get to his head. He should withdraw these insensitive remarks, apologize to Kenyans and then resign.”
Moses Kuria has been on the trends lately, weeks ago, he stated that the government will ban mitumba or second hand clothes to promote the textile industries in the country.
Edwin Sifuna at that time stated,”Those are the people you chose. That is who they are, they are going to embarrass you day in day out. There is no course you can take these people to stem the tide of embarrassment because we told you this is who they are.”
“That is who he is. Moses Kuria whether the camera is on or off, that is Moses Kuria, you know him,” he added.
