A huge debate and uproar has been witnessed on the socials regarding the allowance of genetically modified foods into the country.
Led by the opposition leader, Raila Odinga, he outlined the adverse effects of the foods into the lands of Kenyans.
Raila stated that GMOs will ruin the natural and healthy soils around the country, it will also be set back to Kenyan farmers who are working their backs off to bring fresh produce, to the markets of Kenya.
Miguna Miguna stated,” I say a firm NO to the mad rush to import GMO Maize and other foods to Kenya. I believe that it’s irresponsible and amounts to recklessness on the part of the Kenya Kwanza government.”
Wesley commented,”Before buying any GMOs, go visit any cancer wing in a referral hospital. Then come back joke with your life by consuming GMOs that politicians brought to you. You’ll understand that eating one meal a day is better than consuming 3 GMO meals.”
The philosopher stated,”I won’t support GMOs. Short as that. I won’t accept to be at the mercy of companies like Monsanto or Bayer. I want my people back home to be able to plant back the seeds they harvest, not being at the mercy of foreign powers. So, I’ll be against same KK Govt I voted for on this.”
Ayub Savula stated,”They killed our Mumias. Now they want to kill our maize sector. President Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza cabinet including Moses Kuria must know that GMOs are going to hurt our agricultural sector as Western Kenya. We will not allow GMOs in Kakamega.”
Dr.Ekuru Aukot stated,”Fellow Kenyans, as a student of law in development and globalization, resist GMOs in Kenya. It’s slow death. Don’t allow yourselves to be killed because of what they think is a “quick fix” to our problems.”
