We believe that GMO crops have more to offer- Atheists society expresses their opinion.
Speaking to the media, the Atheists president, Harrison Mumia stated that they see nothing wrong with the genetic modified foods.
He added that in fact, Genetically modified foods will be a great mitigation to the adverse drought and surplus food supply to Kenyans that are facing hunger right now.
Harrison further stated that GMOs being bad for the health of human beings is actually an assumption, being that they are sold in European countries.
Atheists society said,”GM crops have been shown to have more impact in countries like India and Brazil.”
“In a country such as ours, where farm inputs, like fertilizers, farm equipment, and pesticides are becoming harder to afford for our farmers, we believe that GMO crops have more to offer.”
“GMOs are not poison. The perceived ills of genetically modified foods are illusory and far smaller than believed,” they added.
The sentiments comes moments after the catholic archbishop Athony, noted that Death is not something, a cabinet secretary can joke about.
He advised that the government should involve the public before actually allowing GM crops to the country.
He further urged CS Moses kuria to consider apologizing to Kenyans for the reckless remarks he made.
The archbishop stated,”The issue of GMO should be a national conversation and engagement that should bring together government, agricultural experts, food experts and other stakeholders.”
“Kenyans deserve respect and apology from Moses Kuria, death is not someone to joke about,” he added.
