Azimio la Umoja demands Chebukati to proceed to a terminal leave immediately.
Raila led coalition, Azimio la Umoja demands IEBC chair, Wafula Chebukati and the two other outgoing officials( Abdi Guliye and Moya Bolu) to proceed to a terminal leave.
This decision was jointly reached at Naivasha where Azimio la Umoja Principals together governors and deputy met to discuss affairs of the country.
The statement read,”We conducted a thorough analysis of the state of our economy, politics and human security and noted that the people of Kenya are facing times with no immediate end in sight.”
“It is therefore our demand that Wafula Chebukati and the other two outgoing IEBC commissioners should immediately proceed to their terminal leave to stop further cannibalization of the Commission,” it added.
The coalition further highlighted that they will still fight for the justice they have always wanted, irregardless of the fact that Azimio has support from the legal system. They added that democracy must reign in Kenya.
They stated,”The Kenya Kwanza Regime may have the appearance of legality but does not have the legitimacy from the people.”
“We shall not allow being taken back to the dark days of oppression and dictatorship ever again in Kenya,” they added.
The coalition further maintained that they will not allow reinstatement of GMOs and ensure equity in resource allocation.
The statement read,”We shall robustly confront and oppose all dangerous policies and practices of the Kenya Kwanza regime including the sinister efforts to introduce GMO food and/or seeds, destruction of our environment including the re-introduction of the discredited “shamba system”, attempts to tax the most vulnerable segments of our society including “mama mbogas.”
”The fair allocation of resources to all counties is guaranteed by the Constitution and we will work with Kenyans to ensure each county receives its fair share,” they added.
