In her statement, Senator Gloria stated that its high time the country ends the period stigma that girls every month.
She stated that it is normal for a girl to stain their clothes during that time of the month because it is something natural that happens to their bodies.
Reactions from netizens were as follows;
Karen commented,”Senator Gloria Orwoba had to arrive in the Senate with her blood stained beautiful suit just so to pass PADS THEN CONDOMS message. How I wish Mama Rachel Ruto could pull a Beyond Zero kinda boss move after kneeling down around the country with so little to show for her office.”
Stephen commented,”No denying. Senator Gloria Orwoba is on a good mission. She reaped huge publicity from her ‘MP’ blood stains costly stunt. She is talking of pads then condoms. Someone tell her that there is nothing FREE esp if her bill doesn’t include her salary cut. Focus on zero-rating pads!”
Athena wrote,” I remember those days I used to experience my periods and I didn’t have money to buy pads ,the struggles of using used clothes was something you will never want to experience in your life. To cut the story short ,we need free pads.”
“Our girls have really suffered out here and it’s time we all talk about them being given free pads today ,the motion should be supported out here,” she added.
Dedan wrote,”The Senator @gloria_orwoba today walked to Parliament precincts with a “blood” stained white suit pant to demonstrate the ordeal girls and women go through when experiencing their menstrual cycle.”
