The presence of Uhuru in our rallies is destroying our image- Azimio MPs.
A section of Azimio la Umoja members of parliament, have suggested that president Uhuru Kenyatta does not need to make an appearance at their anti- Ruto rallies.
According to Saboti member of parliament caleb Amisi, Uhuru Kenyatta is not adding an political value to the coalition hence should leave.
Caleb revealed that he had held talks with Raila on how to deal with the exit of Uhuru Kenyatta because everyone thinks, Uhuru sponsors the rallies.
Caleb expressed,”If anything, he will reduce the gain Raila has made in all these years. The presence of Uhuru in our rallies is continuously destroying our image as opposition because people may think he is the one who is sponsoring the rallies.”
“Raila’s rallies are not sponsored but his image shows they are being sponsored,” he added.
Sharing the same sentiments was Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu, who stated that Uhuru should now keep off anything political because he failed when they needed him the most.
Makali stated,” If he was not able to bring his stronghold together while he was a sitting President, would his involvement in politics after retirement have any serious impact on Azimio as a coalition? If I were him, I would just opt to retire.”
This comes days after Uhuru Kenyatta expressed his continued support for Azimio la Umoja and Raila Odinga as his party leader.
He stated the yes he is retired but not tired, additionally he urged Kenyans not to engage in divisive politics but development.
