I have handed over my resignation- Muthama resigns as UDA chairman.
In a statement, Johnson Muthama, the former Machakos county senator, stated that he has resigned as the United Democratic alliance chairman.
This comes after he was nominated to become a member of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC). This resignation paves way for his vetting to start.
Muthama stated,”I have handed over my resignation to the party headquarters. What I’m doing right now is handing over to the party secretariat.”
Muthama was part of the 8 persons who were nominated to the commission in interview on December 30, 2022.
The vetting committee will be chaired by Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei. Upon approval, Muthama will serve as part of the parliamentary commission as a non- parliamentary member for five years.
The other seven commissioners include; Nyamira Senator Okong’o Omogeni of the Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) party, Mavoko Member of Parliament (MP)Patrick Makau of the Wiper party, and Nominated Senator Joyce Korir of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, Likoni MP Mishi Mboko of the ODM party, Nyali MP Mohamed Ali of the UDA party, Nyandarua Woman Representative Faith Gitau of the UDA party, and Laikipia Senator John Kinyua of the UDA party.
The commission foresees the activities of the senate and national parliament, ensures everything runs smoothly.
