Azimio la umoja leader, Raila Odinga declares mass action in the next 14 days if the government does not lower cost of living.
In his address at the Azimio la umoja national prayers day at Jevanjee gardens, Raila aired that Kenyans are suffering and the government is not helping them.
He stated that the country under President William Ruto’s leadership is in a bad state and that only God can help Kenyans.
He stated,” We have been talking about the rising prices of basic commodities; Unga, Electricity, fuel, sugar, milk, for too long. The subsidies must be restored. Cost of commodities and taxes must come down in the next 14 days.”
”Our demands are not met in 14 days, we shall lead Kenyans to massive actions across the country to take their power back,” he added.
The former prime minister, added that it was not a good decision, for the president to do away with the subsidies, being that the country is facing drought and famine currently.
He stated,”Withdrawal of subsidies to food and education in the middle of drought and famine was reckless and heartless. Consequently, the subsidies must be restored, the cost of basic commodities and taxes must come down in the next 14 days.”
Raila also , opinioned that the on-going process of reconstituting IEBC must stop immediately.
He stated,” The on going process of reconstituting IEBC must stop immediately. A bi- partisan task force must be put in place to restructure IEBC in a manner that ends its monolithic operations.
Additionally, he addressed the Eric Omondi-led demonstrations, to lower the cost of living that were held outside Parliament buildings yesterday on Tuesday; saying other nations e.g in London at the house of commons, support peaceful demonstrations.
