Form one student beaten to death by teachers weeks after joining school.
In Chemase secondary school, Nandi county ,it has been reported that a form one student beaten by his two physics teachers, succumbed to death.
According to the reports from the school, the student was found cheating on a exam , that’s when the teachers took the initiative of beating him, as a way of punishment.
According to the student’s mother, she was summoned by the school administration to go to Chepsese Health Centre and notified that her son had collapsed in the school’s staff room while being punished.
In details, the mother stated that her son vomited blood and complained of internal stomach injuries after the punishment which included 16 strokes of the cane and kicks.
After Chest complaints, the student was referred to Nandi Hills Sub-County Hospital from Chepsese Health Centre.
Tinderet OCPD Mohammed Jire, has confirmed the incident , stating that the probe into the case had already started.
Jire stated,”The school management didn’t receive any report of sickness from the boy but learnt later that he had developed complications.”
“We will look into every allegation to establish the truth about the unfortunate incident and take appropriate action,” Jire added.
The OCPD further appealed to the family of the deceased, to hold their guard as they investigate the case and also await post mortem results.
Jire stated,”the post-mortem reveals the cause of death to be the beating from the said teachers, then we shall prosecute them for murder.”
The school has since been closed after students on march 5 protested demanding to know what really happened to their fellow, Kiptanui.
