We are giving Kerich six hours to comply- Nairobi MCAs threaten to impeach Kerich.
The Nairobi members of county assembly, have given the county finance executive, Charles Kerich six hours to avail funds to the assembly or face impeachment.
The county lawmakers, claimed that the finance head was withholding funds from Nairobi county assembly which as a result have posed a major impact on operations.
Majority leader Imwatok stated,”Mr speaker this county must be put to order. We cannot allow an officer to sabotage our legislative operations.”
“We are giving Kerich an ultimatum of six hours to comply by giving us our share, or else on Thursday at 2:30 PM, I’ll table a censure motion to impeach him,” he added.
Supporting him was Majority whip, Ogeto, who stated that Kerich does not have the competence to sit at the executive if he runs the finance department in such a way.
However, Kerich has defended himself saying there’s a laid out work plan that finance follows when releasing cash.
He stated,”The executive and the assembly agreed to work with a monthly cash flow plan based on revenue projects. The executive releases funds as per work plan and as per availability of funds.”

Ogeto stated,”We are suffering and we can’t allow one person whom we vetted for the job to suffocate the operations of this assembly. We must do away with him and have someone who can help us deliver on our manifesto.”
