For those of us who have remained, we just move on- Kalonzo mourns his close ally Musembi.
Speaking at Shalom Community Hospital mortuary, Athi River, Kalonzo stated that it is a big blow to loose his big ally Musembi.
He stated that the rest of them will have to continue with their protests against President William Ruto’s administration.
He revealed that many leaders have dumped him during Azimio’s protest period, and losing Musembi came at a wrong time.
He stated,”Wale wenye wako tayari kujiunga na mimi kusaidia nchi, mnakaribishwa. Wale wanafanya minus kule kwingine, ni sawa, ni haki yenu pia.”
Musembi died in a road accident along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway at Green Park Gardens area in Athi River, Machakos on Sunday, 6.00 am.
Kalonzo stated,”Sasa hivi wakati kama hu ambapo mnajua kesho tuko maandamano, Musembi angekua pale na mimi. Wengi wamenitoroka.”
He recalled that last Monday, he almost lost his life after a teargas was discharged from a gun to the car he was in.
He stated,”The teargas wasn’t lobbed, it was discharged using a firearm. It entered inside the car and windows were closed, we almost perished.”
“Losing Musembi at this time is a big blow to all of us. It kind of removes stamina on us, but for those of us who have remained, we just move on,” he added.
Kalonzo eulogized Musembi as a man who not only stood by him but also fought for Kenya, even when he was intimidated.
He stated,”Musembi was there, now you can imagine what I feel. From here, I want to get to the scene of the accident, I want to get satisfied. Now, I won’t go to the church, I have seen the way his injuries are.”
With him was governor Wavinya Ndeti who stated that she will support the family through this hard time.
Wavinya stated,”The family requested for the body to be moved to Lee Funeral home. A postmortem will be conducted to reveal whether it’s a normal accident or otherwise so that they can have peace. We are here to support the family, whatever the family wants us to do, we will support them.”
