We will have that body exhumed- IG Koome gives way forward on Jeff Mwathi’s case.
Speaking today, the inspector general of police, Japheth Koome has stated that a team will be put in place to exhume Jeff’s body in order to continue with the probe.
He stated that according to the recent investigations by the directorate of criminal investigations, there seems to be a gap that can only be answered if the body is exhumed.
He detailed that as of now, they are seeking a court order that will grant them permission before they carry out the process.
Jeff was buried weeks ago in Nyandarua and hence need to seek an order to exhume the body
He stated,”We will have that body exhumed look at dimensions on where he is said to have passed at the window to drop to the ground floor. We are moving to court to seek an order for the exhumation.”
He further affirmed that anyone who is found connected or responsible for the murder of the 23 year old Jeff Mwathi, will be prosecuted accordingly.
He stated,”Anyone found culpable will be held accountable.”
Last week, the DCI reported that Jeff’s case was not an incident of Suicide, the detectives believe that he was murdered before his body was thrown out of the building.
The detectives analyzed that out that was a possibility of a fight before Jeff was dragged outside and thrown off from the rooftop or from the stairs of the 12-storey apartment.
The forensic examination of the scene and retrieval of CCTV footages that captured the deceased’s last moments, came in handy while the probe continues.
