Embakasi west lawmaker, MP Mark speaks after three people were shot during his visit to a swimming pool at umoja estate.
Hon. Mark Mwenje narrated that an armed group of 50 youth attacked him when he was on a visit, his body guards were forced to open fire, In a bid to disperse the crowd that was already in danger.
The law maker stated that he was in the area, to oversea the disbursement of bursaries.
He decried,”I was almost killed, and my life is in danger right now. People came holding guns and wielding knives, and they were a group of 50 people. They would have finished me.”
The matter was reported to Buruburu Police Station, which consequently launched investigations into the incident.
After the incident, Mr. Mwenje’s bodyguard was arraigned in court, but released on a cash bail of 100K.
The motive of the incident is yet to be established, however, Residents have reported that the constituency admins were on a mission to pull down some business structures that were next to the swimming pool.
One resident Millicent stated,”The MPs team were planning on demolishing structures at Umoja One swimming pool, and the boys went there to save a crying lady. Unfortunately, my son was shot by the bodyguard.”
Her son is currently recuperating at Kenyatta hospital, after he sustained neck and stomach injuries from the shoot out.
